Q: Anyone having vibration problems with thier new 2008 VW Beetle from the engine compartment?
I have a 2008 beetle which vibrates from somewhere in the engine compartment. Its a low pitch almost resonant sound. Thought it was the radiator cooling fan, replaced it but still vibrates. any suggestions?
A: If you have any problems, take it to the service department for warranty repair.
Q: What are two financing options for the new 2008 VW Beetle Convertible?
I just need two...I'm having a hard time finding them online. Thanks!
And where can I find them (the options) online. Thanks!
A: I not sure I understand your question. Your options are to lease or buy. You can finance from many online sources for 3-7 years. Just search "online auto finance" and you will have a multitude of companies that provide auto finance.
If this does not answer your question, send me an email with additional details and I will try to help.

I would say there isn't much difference in the headlights from when the new style of Beetle came out (99-08). Good luck!
Q: 2008 VW Beetle - 50/50 on reviews and consumer reports.?
Wife and I thinking of getting the VW Beetle and getting 50/50 on the reviews of the car. We have been Nissan/Acura folks for over a decade with much luck. The styling of the beetle is unique and most other cars look the same. Just can't get by the reviews. Either people love it or it is a lemon. Looking for some thoughts from our Yahoo Answers Friends.........
A: It's a heap, and that design is getting pretty old. Don't waste your money.
Q: How is the new VW beetle convertible for 2008 environmentally friendly?
Or why is it not environmentally friendly? Please help!
A: No need for the AC.
Q: What is a good 'out the door' price to pay for a 2008 VW New Beetle Convertible SE?
I am looking at a new 2008 VW New Beetle Convertible SE in the New Orleans area. Sticker is $26,390. I am NOT going to pay sticker for it, but wanted an idea of how low I can reasonably go on the deal with the salesman. I want him to make some money, but I don't necessarily want to send his kids to college on this one deal. I am trading in a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe with high miles (150K), a bad powersteering pump and bad brake rotors. Any advice will be helpful.
A: The sticker price is a joke, heck even the invoice price is somewhat false as it too has been marked up oftentimes. Most dealers get special volume sales incentives (rebates) for meeting quotes that lowers their cost, plus factory incentives to unload certain models. Rather then driving around town wasting time, the modern method is to email several dealers and ask for their best price on the exact car you want. This will save you time and basically puts into writing the price they are offering. Considering the economy in New Orleans and nationwide with car sales being down, they might be very deseperate to make a sale. http://www.edmunds.com lists the invoice price as $25096(including destination charge) and retail as $26,390. You can request dealer quotes directly through edmunds too.
Q: Where is the IAT sensor on a 2008 VW beetle. I want to install a performance chip. Thanks!?
The sensor on the 2008 Beetle has 5 or 6 prongs on the male plug end and the same number of holes on the female end. This sensor on most cars just has two holes on the female end to plug the two wires iof the sensor into. I don't have a wiring diagram to know which two holes to use. Will it hurt the electronics to try them all (hit and miss) untill I find the right ones? Can you help. Thanks!
A: It should be included within the Mass Air Flow meter. If you're sure it's not, then it should be right next to it.
Q: Where do I plug in my solar panel in my VW Beetle???
I have a 2008 Beetle and need to find out where to plug in the solar panel for my battery. It does not have a cigarette type plug but a square one. It's an ICP VW solar panel. Can't find anything behind the dash to plug it in. Help, please!!
A: Under the dash on the drivers side. Down near the brake pedal, on the left side. You will have you put your head under the steering wheel and look up.
Q: VW Beetle.. or GTI?
I am looking to maybe get a 2007-2008 New Beetle. Has anyone driven them on long trips? I plan on moving from FL to CA and will buy the car a few months before i move. I am really debating between a Beetle and GTI but a GTI will be like 30,000 and i can get a Beetle i like for 22,000. I dont know if a GTI is worth the extra 8,000 dollars.. Ive driven both a well extremely enjoyed both cars.. just want some feed back if you own(ed) one or know someone who has.. looking for the good and the bad please for both.. Thanks
A: Are you kidding the GTI is a better, faster, and so much more fun to drive. The $8000 is for the larger engine and all the other safety features in the GTI that is not in a bug. Like 10-12 air bags compared to a standard 2 in the bug. But hey its your choice.
Q: compareing mpg of a camry and a vw beete!?
does anyone knw the gas mileage of a toyota camry (year 2000-2008) and a vw new beetle (year2000-2008) pleas tell me thanks!!!
A: VW beetle is cute but that's it.
it requires more frequent repairs and scores poorly in side crash tests. the back seat is a torture chamber & engine is noisy.
if you want a VW buy a new Rabbit or Jetta the older models again suffer from poor reliability.
Toyota Camry's avg in the 20's mpg, the hybrid getting 34.
the V6 engines are rated below avg, stick with the 4 cyl.
Q: So what do you think?
Ok kind of a dumb question but here it goes ok so im looking into buying this new 2008 vw beetle and it has every thing i want but a sunroof sure i could go somewhere else but this is the best deal so is it possible to have someone put a sunroof in for me at a shop? if so what would be the price range ?
A: just order the new car the way you want it and wait a few weeks to get it, deal with the same dealership and if the deal is so good he will give you a good deal on ordering one.
Q: Which new car should I get?
I am trying to choose between the 2008 vw new beetle, mazda 3 sedan, hyundai elantra, or toyota yaris? Thanks, this will be my first car...
A: I test drove the Yaris today and I fall in love.Surprisingly enough room great fuel economy and great look.
Q: Thinking about buying a new car from a dealership?
New 2008 VW Beetle?
I have decent credit. I how much do you think I would have to put down? I'm 100% I'll be approved. About $1000.00 - $2000.00? Also whats the cheapest payment plan per month do they have? $250.00? I'm new at buying a car out the dealer. Any advice? I'm going to set up an appoinment with a administrater from the dealer but I'm too excited to wait for that day, so I want a quick run down on everything I should know.
Thx!
I think it's a 2009 or 2008. Not sure. lol
A: Go to your local credit union first and see about getting an auto loan first. That way you are strictly negotiating the price of the car at the dealership. The biggest trap consumers fall into is when they are asked "How much are you looking to spend a month?" . At that point the thing you are negotiating is the payment, not the price. Another important thing to remember is that dealerships do not necessarily make a lot of money on the sale of the car itself. The MSRP is normally not a lot higher than what they pay for it. Where they do make their money is in volume of sales. In other words, the more cars they sell, the better choice of invoice they will get from the manufacturer as well as what are known as holdbacks. So, shopping for a car at the end of the month will generally get you a better deal than at the beginning. My best deals have always been between 6 and 8 pm on the last day of the month as they are always trying to get that one last sale in for the month.
Shopping for a car should be a fun thing. Always shop around and look at different cars in the same class. Never be afraid to walk away from a deal.
Your best deal on a 2008 will come in the fall right before the 2009's come out. I did that and purchased my car for $2500 below the dealer invoice.
Have fun and good luck!
Q: Volkswagen Beetle headlight ?
I don't own a VW Beetle but I've always wanted to know if the recent models (1998-2008) have always had tail light and headlight problems. It seems that 98% (not exaggerating!) of the VW Beetles I see driving around have at least one headlamp or tail light not working. Is this an issue where they are frequently going out? Or is it a feature of some sort?
A: The headlight bulb is a major pain in the butt to replace. The average bug owner could not replace it themselves without damaging things. You have to remove the entire headlight assembly and disassemble it on the bench. And a lot of times you break the bucket going back in.
The dealer charges almost $100 bucks to replace the bulb.
The tailights are also pretty difficult to replace. The average bug owner isn't going to have a plastic bone to pry out the tailight assembly, after unscrewing the hidden plastic retaining nut.
So I'm going to say that the average person is frustrated that they have to go to a VW specialist to have a bulb replaced. So they just drive around with the bulb out.
EDIT: Ladybugewa- Well yah!, your a super savy volkswagen chick that likes working on cars. 3/4 of our customers don't even know how to pop the hood. So changing bulbs in a beetle is totally out of the question.
If I had a nickel for every broken headlight bucket broken by a customer trying to do it themselves I'd be rich. I've easliy replaced 100 broken headlight buckets, and 200 bulbs myself. An I have broken 2 buckets simply because the headlight assembly would not come out.....
Q: poor service at vow dealer in houston?
2008 vw super beetle in for service. 6-cdchanger won't work. it has been there for 6 days so far. after exhausting complaints to dealership, what is my next move?
A: Tell them that you are going to file a complaint with customer care: 1-800-822-8987 and follow through with it.
