Q: Around how much would a used vw beetle be?
Just a normal beetle, and if colour matters white or yellow.

A: I have purc$hased a bettle as cheap as $1250, and 1200 running. The first one I put an engine in for about $1000. and the last one my boy is maintaining it and putting parts in it at about $100/month. (The second buy was not as good as the first.). A bug in godd condition will run you a minimum of $3000. One running, unless its from an uncle or somebody like that should be at least $1000. I found a 63 type III notch back, not running, interior trashed, no bumpers for $1000, and I think I got it cheap.

Q: Recommend a used VW Beetle as first car?
i'm a learner driver but im nearly ready for my test and currently looking for a first car. I know the Beetle is not the ideal car but it seems to be very economical. I really want something quirky and this car oozes character. Im female, 30 and have a 6 year old child. I can't afford a new car and im looking more at good condition 70s models. Can anyone give me any personal experiences or advice on whether this would be a good option for me? thanks!

A: If you really want one, go for it. You'll need to accept the 1960s levels of safety and handling, not to mention old car levels of maintenance (once a week, rather than once a year!), but if you can learn some basic mechanical skills a Beetle's not that hard to run. When you buy one, look for rust. Everywhere. And then look again! Any old Bug will have been repaired by now so check how well it's been done. On the upside, you'll never go short of help or friends when you run an old VW, there are owners clubs and outings all over the place, and if you buy a decent one and keep it that way you'll never suffer the dreaded depreciation that makes running a modern car so expensive. Yes you might have to spend a few hundred quid on it every year, but if you buy a £2,000 Beetle, it'll stay a £2,000 Beetle! Have fun!

Q: How much would a used VW beetle cost? I wana paint it hot pink also. How much is a decent paint job?
I basically want Bailey Hanks's car =) but a convertable. http://www.autochic.com.au/_cms/CMS_images/article/image_446.jpg

A: well are you looking of a old beetle or a newer beetle

Q: where can i find a used VW beetle, between 1960 and 1990, in southern cali, $2000 and under?
i need help :/

A: junkyard they are all being bought up and restored selling for $10 to $25,000 http://www.oldbug.com/

Q: I want to buy a used VW Beetle convertible...what are some good websites besides autotrader & cars.com?
They seem to have the same cars overlapping. I also wonder if anyone knows of a website where dealers will contact me with info & prices on used ones - I have found such a website for new only. I live in east central Indiana, if anyone knows of any good, more local sources. Thanks!

A: eBay now has a thing called eBay motors where you can buy used cars. Also try MSN Autos. Has good reviews. Good luck!

Q: I am in need of a car and I'd like a used VW beetle automatic...any advice/suggestions about that?
I know where to buy one...I am looking for your opinion of the car.

A: If I could buy one right now, I definitely would! My life sob story is that my parents sold ours just before I was old enough to get a driver's license! I do aspire to have one again someday, whether it's automatic or not. So my advice to you is...Go for it! :)

Q: What are reasons for buying or not buying a used (2003?) New VW Beetle?
I've wanted one since I was a teenager, but I really need a reliable car, so I'd love to hear all positive and negative experiences with this car. Also, suggestions for cars in similar price range:)

A: Subaru Legacy Gt turbo. Not as cute, but more reliable. Im not a veedub fan.

Q: Buying used VW - help choose 99 Cabrio and 01 Beetle?
I can't decide between a 1999 VW Cabrio - blue, with blue top and tan leather interior, 88k miles, or 2001 VW Beetle, red, with 66,000 miles and a sunroof, cloth interior. Which one would you choose?

A: My sister has a Cabrio, my brother a Bug. I'd go with the Cabrio, slightly larger, leather stands up much better than cloth and you didn't mention if the seats were heated. That's a big plus here in New England. The mileage is pretty close

Q: Was their a VW Beetle used by the Germans during WW2 with a machine gun mounted on the roof? Ne1 have pics?

A: The origins of the car date back to 1930s Nazi Germany. Adolf Hitler's desire that almost anybody should be able to afford a car fit with a proposal by car designer Ferdinand Porsche (1875-1952) The intention was that ordinary working Germans would buy the car by means of a savings scheme. Prototypes of the car called the KdF-Wagen (German: Kraft durch Freude = strength through joy), appeared from 1936 onwards (the very first prototypes were produced in Stuttgart). The car already had its distinctive round shape - designed by Erwin Komenda - and air-cooled, flat-four, rear-mounted engine. However the factory (in the new town of Kdf-Stadt, purpose-built for the factory workers), had only produced a handful of cars by the time war started in 1939. Consequently the first volume-produced versions of the car's chassis if not body were military vehicles, the jeep-like Kübelwagen (approx. 52,000) and the amphibious Schwimmwagen (approx. 14,000). Deliberately designed to be as simple as possible mechanically, there was simply less that could go wrong; the radiator-less air-cooled 985 cm³ 25 hp (19 kW) motors proved especially effective in action in North Africa's desert heat. There where some with mounted weapons but i dont have any pictures sorry

Q: IM THINKING ABOUT BUYING A USED VW NEW BEETLE. ARE THEY GOOD CARS?
I'M LOOKING AT A 2000.

A: no 98 to 01 worst used car list

Q: whats the registration and license fee for a used '00 vw beetle in florida?

A: IN THE TIME IT TOOK YOU TO TYPE THIS QUESTION, YOU COULD HAVE GONE TO THE FLORIDA DMV WEB SITE FOR THE ANSWER. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YEAR OR MODEL YOUR CAR IS. THEY HAVE DIFFERENT CATEGORIES THEY PUT MOTOR VEHICLES IN.

Q: What do you think of the 2002 VW Beetle - looking to purchase one used -- 119,000 -- does $6000 seem fair?
It appers to be in good condition - not perfect - but it is a 2002. Would like it as a third car - and to give to my child.

A: The problem with Volkswagen isn't the car. It's the people working on the cars. They use shoddy parts because they're cheap and they turn the car into a lemon. If you go to a shop that specializes in Volkswagens they'll do a better job. If the car is maintained they're very reliable $6000 seems like a fair price. You may want to look into something cheaper as a first car for your child though and let them save towards a new one. Every brand has a few cars with problems but that doesn't mean the brand is bad. My mom got a brand new Honda with nothing but problems and one of her friends had the same thing happen but with a Chevy. All companies have slip ups. I've never had an issue with a Volkswagen except for when they were repaired by half-@ssed mechanics. Then I ran into tons of problems.

Q: What is synthetic gold, and what is it used for? the question relates to my vw beetle which I had serviced.?
the question relates to my vw beetle which I had serviced recently, the synthetic gold appeared on the bill at a cost of £32! the product no. is zgb115qlb00421 if that is any help?

A: The artificial production of gold is the age-old dream of the alchemists. It is possible in particle accelerators or nuclear reactors. Since there is only one stable gold isotope, Au-197, nuclear reactions must create this isotope in order to produce usable gold. [edit] Gold synthesis from Mercury Gold obtained by mining has copper and silver as impurities. Gold of higher purity can be made through the photoneutron process: Mercury198 + 6.8Mev gamma ray > 1neutron + Mercury197 (half-life 2.7 days > Gold 197) These energy levels allow a more efficient neutron source than the Spallation Neutron Source. [edit] Gold synthesis in an accelerator Gold synthesis in a particle accelerator is possible in many ways. The Spallation Neutron Source has a liquid Mercury target that will be transmuted into Gold, Platinum and Iridium, which are lower in atomic number. [edit] Gold synthesis in a nuclear reactor In a nuclear reactor gold can be manufactured by irradiation of platinum or mercury. Since platinum is more expensive than gold, platinum is economically unsuitable as a raw material. Only the mercury isotope Hg-196, which occurs with a frequency of 0.15% in natural mercury, can be converted to gold by neutron capture, and following K+- decay into Au-197 with slow neutrons. Other mercury isotopes are converted when irradiated with slow neutrons into one another or formed mercury isotopes, which beta decay into thallium. Using fast neutrons, the mercury isotope Hg-198, which is contained to 9.97% in natural mercury, can be converted by splitting off a neutron and becoming Hg-197, which then disintegrates to stable gold. This reaction, however, possesses a smaller activation cross-section and is feasible only with un-moderated reactors. It is also possible to eject several neutrons with very high energy into the other mercury isotopes in order to get the Hg-197. However such high-energy neutrons can be produced only by particle accelerators.

Q: how top buy a mexican new VW beetle for use in the USA?
Is it legal to buy a mexixan VW bug and then bring it accross the border for permanent use in the USA? If it is, what are the costs and papaerwork to make it happen? What kinds of clean air equipment will need to be added to make it leagal for driving in Texas. Thanks for your help.

A: You said new and you know there must be some reason why the bug is being sold new in Mwxico and not in the States. They will not pass the safety standards. Many of the vehicles that are used in other nations will not be allowed in the USA for that reason. Even famous names like Toyota sell different vehicles in different nations even if they look the same they are not.

Q: I need some help buying a used car. VW beetle, GLS 2.0, 5spd, P/W, P/L. with 86, 685 km on it.?
Can someone help me decode the words! what do GLS, spd, P/W, P/L mean? Also is 86, 685 to much mileage? thanks!

A: GLS 2.0 is just the type (i.e. luxury, sport, sedan) 5spd means that it is a manual 5 speed (not automatic) P/W means power windows P/L means power lock and 86,685km is kind of high if it is a newer vehicle
