Q: After market parts for my 2000 VW GTI GLX?
I am in search of a good cold-air intake (preferably K&N, but I dont think they make one that will fit), new clear head light lenses, a performance exhaust, and probably a new bumper skirt so the tail pipe can come out. Or anything that in your opinion would be sweet on the car.
Do you know of a good website/store?
Thanks.

its gnna cost 4600$. Its about two minutes away at my cusin's dealership
A: i really love the 2000 gti's they are very reliable have good gas mileage and are fun to drive. the only bad thing the fuel injectors have been known to burn. other than that it's great
Q: How much horsepower does a cold air intact add on a vw gti 2000 ???
I wont to add more HP on my 2000 VW GTI but I don't know were to start from. So I think an cold air intact will be a good place to start from, but I don't know how much Hp will give me. If any one knows pls ell me. and also if you can tell me some other moods I can do so I can get more Hp from the engine. and it will be very helpful if u give me a website from were I can order them and which ones. thank you very much!!!!
A: the intake is a good place to start, you have to let it breathe. The cold air intake doesn't gain a lot, i'd say 7-10 max. a good ignition system with good plugs and wires. Check MSD Ignition or Accel for this stuff. Changing the exhaust will let it get that power out also. I dont know what your budget is but if you add forced air induction (super charger or turbo charger) you will see big HP numbers. Good Luck and have fun

Q: Does anyone knows where I might find a "quick release tool" for changing a fuel filter on a 2000 VW GTI.
I am trying to change my own fuel filter and I have hit a snag because I can not get access into the old one to replace it. Besides taking it to a mechanic or just going to an autozone what suggestions do you have?
I live in Kentucky (USA)
A: Well, No one can tell you where to get a tool unless you tell us where you live, and in which country.
However if you live in Australia, Cheaper auto spares(not super cheap auto), Repco, Global, Or maybe a VW dealer.
Q: DOES anyone know where I can get a new or reconditioned cylinderhead assembly for a 2000 VW GTI 1,8 TURBO AWD?
A: try a scarp yard or the dealer.
Q: Anyone else have a 2000 VW Gti that leaks water into the car when it rains?
When it rains or when I take my VW to the car wash, water starts to leak in. Depending on the water pressure it can look like a trickle or like there's a tiny hose that was turned on and it starts to pour in. It's on the passenger side door towards the front at the top of the window - that area. I don't want to take it to the dealer 'cause i don't trust them. They said they fixed it the first few times it happened and they made me pay alot. So I just want to resolve it myself, if I can. Has this happened to anyone with a VW around the same year? Any suggestions on how I can fix it?
A: Your moon roof drains need to be cleared out. If you open it all the way you will see holes at the corners. Either take an air hose and blow them out or some weed whacker line and run it through. The other end of the drains are in your door jambs, so have the doors open when you do it.
Q: where is the o2 bank 1 sensor 2 located on my 2000 vw golf gti?
A: if its a 1.8 there is only one bank and sensor 2 means o2 sensor behind the cat converter sensor 1 would be in front or before the cat
Q: Cleaning The Engine of a VW GTI MK4?
I got a 2000 VW GTI and I would like to know is there any specific way to clean up the engine and all the other stuff around it? people told me that it is not good to clean it with water and others told me it's fine. so I am confuse. pls some one tell me if there is any specific way :) 10x
A: There are steam cleaning places to have your motor bay cleaned at. You do not want to spray water on your motor. You could short out an electrical component.
It costs around 70 dollars to have all the grim removed professionally. You could spend that on 10 cans of "GUNK" engine cleaner.
Also, if they fry something cleaning your motor, then they pay for the component that got damaged.
Q: Anyone know a good VW specialist around Los Angeles?
I own a 2000 VW GTi and it needs alot of work. I'm not really looking for a custom tuner or boutique-type shop, nothing fancy. I'm not trying to customize it or get it all raced out. I just want a shop that specializes in VWs and that can do solid work at a reasonable price.
I live in Eagle Rock so any shop in Pasadena, Glendale, Burbank, Highland Park, Silverlake, Echo Park or Hollywood would be Ideal.
A: Here is a good place to start. It should contain most of the information you need. http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=1054062
Q: 2000 VW Jetta routine maintenance?
My wife has a 2000 VW jetta GTI and im deployed right now so i cant look at her manual to see what maintenance she may be needing soon and i wna make sure she will have no problems. she has69000mi on her car and i wanted to know what kind of service shes looking at soon on her vehicle. as far as spark plugs, fluids, etc. if anyone could help me out id appriciate it. thank you.
A: The major services on her vehicle are at 40k, 80k, 120k. The timing belt is due between 80k and 90k. The manual says 105k but at the dealer we are seeing premature breakage on the belt. So we are recommending doing the belt earlier.
Volkswagen recommends using Synthetic Oil. So oil changes are every 5k, when using Synthetic.
There is a Pollen filter that filters the air that is being sucked into the car when the Heater or AC is on. That is due every 20k.
There is no recommended service for the Transmission fluid. At the dealer when we do transmission work on Automatics you have to fill the fluid using a Computer/Scanner to set the fliud level. No one has a scanner but a dealer, or tech that left the dealer and purchased one while they were there.
Q: Where would i find out the part number for a cv joint on my polo gti as looking for a replacement at non vw £
Polo Gti 2000 W-Reg
Non Vw Price
A: you dont need to find the exact part number, just do an internet search for some german tuning company and enter the year and model info.
Q: what car scanning tool is the proper one to know the check engine light problem?
I whant to know what scanneris the proper one for for a 2000 vw gti vr6 and a 1994 nissan pick-up?
A: The 2000 is OBD II the 94 may be OBD I.
The 94 may be an early OBD II but need a different cable than the post 1996 OBD II universal cable.
I bought the AutoXray OBD I & II compatible scanner so I could read them all. I did have to buy 1 extra pigtail for a 94 Buick that was OBD II but pre-universal, the standardized OBD II interface did not arrive until the 1996 year model.
Good Luck!
Q: Are all GTI's turbos?
I'm looking at a 2000 VW GTI GLX it has the 6 cylinder 2.8 liter engine. Im new to the VW world and I wanted to know if this car is turbo or N/A. Also how is the reliability of these and about how many miles can you get out of them.
A: 2.8 is a VR6 non Turbo 6 cylinder
2.0 is 4 cylinders non Turbo (nick named 2.SLOW)
1.8 is 4 cylinder Turbo
2.8 VR6 is pretty reliable but they do have their problems too, Mostly Coils and Waterpumps. They have a bunch of mods available.
2.0 is the most reliable, no available mods unless you want to turbo it for 5,000 dollars and get 25 horse power.
1.8T is faster but less reliable, The 1.8 T has a Suction Jet Valve or PCV valve that clogs and causes oil to circulate through the breather system. This weakens all the rubber hoses until they tear because they are so soft. This gives you a Check Engine light. Also when that valve cloggs it blows out the seal for the cam adjuster so oil starts pouring off the engine. If you don't catch it in time it pours onto the Coolant Flange and causes the Coolant Flange to start leaking coolant. And if you don't catch that then your motor over heats. The plus side is that there is tons of mods availalbe to make it fly.
(Can you tell C7S doesn't work on these cars?)
We have cars at the shop with 250,000 miles on them still running strong
