Q: I just purchased a 2003 VW GTI and something under the hood keeps running after I turn the car off.?
It sounds like a fan or something. How long does that run? Is it to cool the motor after you shut down?
A: The car is equipped with an electric cooling fan that continues to run until the motor is cooled down. Make sure the radiator is full of coolant. Only check the radiator after the motor has fully cooled down for a few hours. It is normal for the fan to run after the engine is shut down.
Q: 2003 VW GTI Stock Exhaust?
I am looking for a stock exhaust for a 2003 VW GTI. I live in chicago and am not sure where to look, online or in the area? If you have any suggestions please let me know.

Q: how do i tighten the breaks on a 2003 vw GTI?
it is the E brake not just the regular ones the E brake!!!
A: Volkswagens Later models and especially the GTi, have rear discs and pads not shoes and drums on the rear and can not be manually adjusted as they are self-adjusting.
If your Ebrake is found to be especially weak, then i would suggest you have a fault or mechanical failure in the braking system
Q: What to put in my 2003 VW GTI 1.8T to push MAX HP?
Hey guys, I own a 2003 VW GTI 1.8T... and I'm pretty sure it comes with 180hp stock... I want to know all the parts I can put in this car to MAX out the HP.. Im not sure if i can get up to 400hp+ on this car but thats what im asking too. I have plenty of money to buy everything but I just need to know what to get and so on... Anyways if someone that knows what their talking about can respond that'd be great.
A: Another show off.
If you do up the golf with ALL THAT MONEY to MAX out, you should just buy another more powerful car. REALLY.
eg. Golf = $10K
bigger turbo + ecu/chip = $4.5K
intake + exhaust = $2.5K
bigger intercooler + silicon piping =$2.5K
Non-power giving mod to catch up with the increase in BHP. brakes etc =$6K
For $25K you could get ...
Q: I have a VW GTI 2003 and one of the panel lights just came on. I think it's the engine lights, but I don't
have a manual. Does anyone know what the engine lights look like? If so, can I wait until Saturday to bring it to a mechanic? The car seems to be working fine.
A: hopefully this helps you out

Q: Where is the Radiator filler opening for my 2003 VW GTI VR6?
A: The round looking bottle with the red fluid in it. VW uses red antifreeze. It's considered "permanent" antifreeze, and does not need to be changed every 3 years like the green antifreeze. Warning: DO NOT PUT THE GREEN ANTIFREEZE in it! It reacts with the red stuff and does bad things to the inside of your motor. Only use the red antifreeze provided by the dealer.
Q: 2003 VW GTi Turn Signal Flasher Question - any VW Techs out there?
After completing a turn, the turn signal cancels, but the flasher keeps clicking - fast, like the sound you hear when a bulb is burned out. None of the lights keep flashing, inside or out, just the clicking of the flasher continues. It'll keep clicking for 2 seconds to 2 minutes. If you use the turn signal lever, it immediately goes into a normal flash & click. I believe there was a recall on a similar problem, but I think it was for '00 and '01 cars, not my 2003. The emergency flasher works fine, the clicking stops when you stop the flasher. All bulbs work, and flash appropriately. They stop flashing when they're supposed to - it's just that stupid clicker that keeps making noise. It's driving me crazy! Can someone please help?
A: Are all the turn signal bulbs of the same wattage? It could be the flasher relay has a temporary short circuit to positive as after cancelling the turn, wiring problem or the flasher relay itself coul be the cause.I work for a dealer, have not experienced any recalls yet on the 03 GTI for such cases. I will suggest you visit a dealer if the above tip does not help.Goodluck.
Q: Can I change break pads on 2003 GTI?
I need to change break pads on my 2003 VW GTI. I went to Tuffy the auto shop, they said that break pads are non servicable on 2003 GTI and I would need to replace bouth router disks and break pads. Is that ture, did anyone changed their breakpads on GTI?
A: It's a catch 22. Most people don't get new pads put on the shoes, they just change the shoes. $35 to $50. It isn't too hard. Everyone wants you to replace the routers. If your car is shaking or jerking when you apply the break you do need to get them replaced. They started making them thiner so they would warp, because hardly anyone was replaying them.
Q: can i put a blow off valve on my 2003 vw gti 1.8T?
i know i can put one on but i read that its not good for your car. If i shouldnt, could i buy a diverter valve that sounds like a bov or something like that?
A: Blow off valves are a good thing. When you let off the throttle or change gears (if your car is standard), the pressure that's built up from the turbo has to go somewhere. Better to go through a BOV than through your intake system!
Q: 2003 vw gti 2003 20th aniversary 0 to 60 miles per hour, how fast?
A: 6.5 is about right. Shift at 6,000 though. Mine is chipped w/exhaust and the power still dies off about there.
Q: 2003 vw gti vr6 air bag fault light is on what do i need to fix this problem?
A: Your safety equipment on a vw comes with a 10 year manufacturers warranty - so all you have to do is take your car to the dealer and hve it fixed.
Do not try to fix it yourself.
Q: 2003 vw gti 1.8t cold air intake?
i am looking for a cold air intake for my gti for my first mod. i have been shopping around and am not sure what is the best kind to get. any recomendations.
A: i did everything delc said.. excepet the apr, i did giac.. all that done and you will notice a extreme difference in performance.. especially after APR/Giac , i also did the N75 valve change and minor suspension mods.. everyone loves torque steer.. good luck
Q: how much boost does a stock 2003 VW GTI push?
A: Its around 7 or 8 psi. Dont run yur stock turbo so high like at 22 PSI or else you are just going to kill it. APR software i think makes your turbo spool at around 15 or 17 PSI still at a safe level. Get a boost gauge to check what your boostin. join vwwworld.forumup.org I think you will like it.
Q: Does anyone know what the stock hp and torque are on a 2003 VW GTI 1.8T?
A: For sure 180 hp
Q: 2003 VW GTI 1.8T..at around 3000rpm it feels like the turbo is stalling, then it takes off again, what gives?
Sorry, I should've explained a lil better. It's the turbo lag. Turbo kicks in way down toward 1850 RPM, which is actually really good - it's a small turbo, spool time is almost nil. My prob is the fact that once it's engaged and pushing me back in my seat, at roughly 2800 rpm to 3200 rpm, it's like the turbo takes a break and then immediately kicks back in. I'm curious to know who else has this problem with their MKIV GTI or Jetta's. Is it possibly my Waste Gate Valve (N75) going bad??

A: i would scan the car for faults.most likely there will be faults stored in the ecm. once you know what faults are there you can go from there. it is most likely not the n75 valve.
