Q: What is the size of the opening of my exhaust tips for a 2006 VW GTI Mach 5?
I am looking at purchasing some chrome tips and needed to know what size mine are, first.
A: You know what a ruler is, sport???
Q: Where is the 6-CD Changer on a 2006 VW GTI with nav? How do you load the discs?
The disc slot seems to only want the nav DVD...
Also, is there an AUX plug-in port? I see "AUX" on the system's options...but don't know where to plug anything in...? :(
A: I have a feeling the cd changer is in the arm rest, at least that's what I remember reading in the owners manual about a year ago.
In my '07 GTI the aux input is in the 'roof' of the glove box, it's a small white square with a micro jack in the middle of it. To access the aux function press the CD button twice.
Q: 2006 VW GTI MKV Malfunctioning Indicator Light Just Came on...Any ideas on what it could be???
The car has 40000 miles and it just came on today. Is this a common problem? Any help would be great...thanks
A: If its the CEL that you're talking about you will have to give alot more details, do you notice anything with the car? If the gas cap isn't on all the way it might do that, did you just tank up? Maybe oil level is low? You best bet is to just go to a dealer and get it diagnosed, the CEL is just a generic indicator, without codes or specific symptom, I don't know what else to tell you. It might be just something minor, there are known things that go wrong with the GTI's, I don't recall off the top of my head. So if you have more of a description of whats going on, you can ask the guys over at forums.vwvortex.com, they are the biggest VW forum around, they can help you. Try the Golf V/ Jetta V board.
Q: 2006 VW GTI w about $6k neg. equity, but want to trade it for 2006 Passat priced about as much as my payoff..?
What do I do first?
a) apply for an auto loan at my bank (will it need to cover neg. equity in addition to Passat price?)
b) test drive the Passat
c) see what kind of finance rate the dealership can offer?
A: With that much negative equity you're crazy to get a new car. Your'e just adding more debt. Every $500 is about $10 in payments...you are going to add about $140 to your payment by including that much negative equity into a new loan. Be smart and pay down that balance until you're car is at least worth the payoff, then trade it in. But it's your money.
Q: What does 2006 VW GTI package 2 include?
A: It's clear you have a computer with Internet access. Go look!!!! http://www.vw.com
Q: What color and where is the tach wire on a vw gti mkv 2006 2.0T?
I am hooking up a raptor shift light
A: Red Above The Iqaluit Box
Q: Wheels for a VW GTI MkV?
Which wheels would you reccomend for a Red 2006 VW GTI MkV? I currently have 18" TSW Estoril's on it, but want something different. Also, what are the pros and cons of 19" wheels? Thanks!
A: Stick with the 18" TSW anything larger than that will cause problems with the suspension. Plus, 19" 's look obnoxious on GTi's.
Q: VW GTI and R32 2006 grill?
Is it possible, with no or limited modifications, to have the parts swapped?
And the cost? OEM manufactures?
A: yes, they're both the same car.
just different suspensions, drive layout (the r32 is AWD, the GTI is FWD) and engine differences.
Q: VW Polo GTI or Mini Cooper?
I have just qualifed as a nurse and am looking to treat myself to a car.
I like to 2006 VW Polo GTI but recently started to look at the Mini Cooper S.
Which car do you think I should get and why? I have 1 year no claims and have had my license for 3 years.
Serious answers please!!
Also, I am 21 years old
A: Insurance and fuel economy are going to be a killer on both (despite their small size).
If I were in your position I'd opt for the VW, purely because it's a little more unusual than the Mini, has VW build quality, and is avaliable (I believe) in a more practical 5-door version, even though the performance might be a little more sedate than the Mini.
But it's your choice, so don't let anyone here bully you! Enjoy whichever car you pick and have fun- well done qualifying to become a Nurse by the way, I admire you!
Q: Can the stereo of a GTI be upgraded to one that plays mp3's? ?
I have a june 2006 VW GTI, it's the best car, love it. The stereo is great except it doesn't play MP3's which in this day and age is unbelievable. Are these upgradable, or are you able to buy a new 6 cd stacker from VW to replace it which plays MP3's. I don't mean iPod connections, i mean playing mp3's on a cd!
cheers
robster
A: Simple, you buy a new audio deck and have it installed. This is a very common thing and a new deck that plays mp3s goes for ~50 or less excluding installation.
Q: VW GTI MkV?
what speakers are on the 2006 gti mkv with the basic am/fm 6cd changer?
A: most likely delphi but you can request from the dealer all the pr codes pertaining to your vehicle, they wont charge for this. should give you the type installed
Q: GTI or 350Z?
I own a six month old 2006 VW GTI. I've recently fallen in love with the Nissan 350Z. And as much as I've put into my GTI and have enjoyed it, it's kinda pissing me off. Electronic malfunctions specifically. I've read (on Yahoo! Answers no less) that Nissan is THE most reliable car manufacturer out right now. The GTI is bought and paid for and I'll get about 20,000 for it after taking out the subs and amps and selling them on the side. So i'll have relatively low payments. I'm hoping maybe some Z owners can give me some recommendations. How the pain at the pump is, is the thrill worth the lack of room? Things like that. I learned stick in my GTI and now I'm hooked. I looooove performance. I'm starting to form an addiction. Sub question: Any other reccommendations? P.S. I just got married and we just bought her an 06 RSX Type-S, so money is a factor. Thanks for your time guys. Let the battle commence.
A: I say if you love the 350Z go for it. They are pretty decent cars. I don't have much experience with the gti so i'm not sure how they compare. The trick is to find a dealer with old stock, a good time to shop is now. When I was shopping for mine this summer the dealer still had 2 05's on the lot, I talked them down because they needed to move them. The total cost of the car after taxes and charges was 23K, and these were just leftover stock that hadn't sold, they gave me the new warrenty. So if you can get 20K for your gti, look around at the nissan dealers in your area and don't be afraid to shop around. Find an 06 or 05 and you should be able to pick it up for cheap.

Q: Did they stop making VW GTI's?
My mom and I own VW Jettas (different years and makes) and she mentioned to me that they stopped constructing Volkswagon GTI's after 2006. Is this true? I love those cars, especially the fact that they get such great mpg and are available in standard transmission.
A: no that is not true, they still make gti's heres a link check it out

Q: How do I get out of a car I can't afford? Read details...?
I am about 14 months into a 48 month lease of a 2006 VW GTI. My payoff quote is arond $21k. I pay $400.42 per month. I made a mistake buying this car, when I later changed jobs and now am barely able to make payments. HELP! Oh, also, mileage approx 20k. Thanks!
A: You might be able to talk the dealer into trading down if you explain the situation to them. We have traded people out of clean low milage lease vehicles before just to get the vehicle on the lot, just beware, it will cost you a bundle, you are going to get nailed for the depreciation for 14 months which is going to be a killer.
