Q: Where is the inner light switch for a 2007 VW GTI MKV?
I can't seem to find the switch for the inner headlights of the 07 GTI. Anyone know where it is?
A: Those inner lights are for passing during the day time. When the day time running lights are on you pull back on the blinker lever which is the same as turning on the hi-beams for night time driving.
Q: How do you install a air intake for a 2007 VW GTI?
Any websites that i can follow pictures would be very helpful :-)
A: why would you want to do that? let alone do it yourself when youve never done it before. a 2007 vw is a great car anyway. youll only ruin the car and make the resale value plummet.
Q: what wheels and tires work best on the 2007 VW GTI for all around or maybe I should do a set for winter?
It comes with 17" conti sport contact 2. I can get 18 through the dealer. Thank you.
A: Keep the sport contact and stock wheels thru the summer. Then when winter comes buy Blizzak tires for the stock wheels. Go online tirerack.com You can display your car with a wide selection of aftermarket wheels and tires in 17, 18, 19 inch sizes. Then a set of slicks and rims for the race track. I purchase lots of tires fron the rack
Q: Does anyone own a 2007 VW GTI if so how do you like it?
A: I've got a grey 2-door with DSG and leather seats (package 2).
It's definitely quick and pretty fuel efficient (averaging about 30 MPG in mixed city/highway traffic). When I go to work, I have to merge quickly into highway traffic (the on/off ramps are very short)... yet I have no problems ramping up to 70mph very quickly.
As for the seats, the leather seats are the more sporting of the seat choices. In ordinary cars, leather seats and cloth seats are identical, except for the surface material. Not so for the GTI, the cloth seats are a completely different style than the leather ones. The side bolstering in the leather seats is much more pronounced. It really locks you into the seat if you want to push the car.
But the best part (in my view) of the car is it's handling. We have some hilly back roads where I live... and the GTI is a complete BLAST to drive when you are on them. You'll be able to take downhill hairpin turns at a much faster rate than most other cars out there and still feel completely in control of your vehicle. The car simply grips to the road like superglue while the steering/suspension keeps you going where you want the car to go.
My biggest grip with the car is that there are so many slowpokes putting along, barely able to control their vehicles, as I'm trying to take a nice weekend drive through the hills. (and around here, they all drive Toyota Avalons, grrr!)

Q: Would you buy a 2007 Honda Civic Si Sedan or a 2007 VW GTI?
A: Both cars are great, both of them won car of the year. I personally prefer the Honda over the VW. The Honda better gas mileage, resale value, and is a better value. The only thing the GTI has is performance which comes at a premium. I also like the look of the SI more.
Q: 2007 VW GTI, are they more reliable cars now?
I have 2001 GTI VR6. I have had ten recalls and TONS of problems with this car..several of them were expensive to fix. I am told, however, that since 2004, VW has been working very hard on the reliability of their cars, even the GTI. Is this true? Are they more reliable now? The new GTI is a 4 cyl turbo (no more VR6s in the US.) I test drove it today. Man, SWEET ride. Comfy bucket seats w/ lumbar support, smooth turbo, very little road noise. It rides like a dream...and it has some guts, baby. I just dont want another GTI that's gonna give me alotta problems. Anybody know anything more specific, please let me know.

Q: receiver hitch for 2007 VW GTI?
I went to U-Haul and they had ordered one that would not work. Does anyone have one on their 07 GTI?
A: Is the car rated to haul.Check the owners manual about hauling.If they say you can haul with it get on line with Reese hitches they are big after market company.

this is interesting at least to me anyway like I said I got the 07 gti and want to know how to modify it or what to do with it its really my first sports car and I have heard it has alot of potential I also heard that there is some kind of code that can be programmed in the cars computer to make the windows open by the ignition key remote control if you have any information about this how to do it how to remove speed governors what kind of computer gadget i need and anything else I don’t know, which isnt very much, about please tell me you may also email me if you like if you have some stuff I might be interested please feel free to say anything other than the normal options and also how do I get that little telephone button on the steering wheel to work thanks
A: You can teach it to sit up and beg when you drive it to hard. When you treat it poorly it will rollover and play dead. There are other tricks you can teach it but you will have to go to school with it and learn how to teach it tricks.
A good way to learn about how to teach it tricks is to look on the internet for clubs, blogs and aftermarket parts to help it be noticed at different events such as auto-cross games, drifting competitions and drag racing. Of course you will have to learn what to feed your new VW so as to keep him healthy.
Have fun with your new pet. I just hope your girl friend does not feel hurt that you have a new love in your life.
Q: 2007 VW GTI, 2007 Mazdaspeed3 or 2007 Civic SI?
I want a smaller zippy fun to drive car that I can keep for the next 5 -6 years, what do ya'll thionk and why? I would also like to have input from current owners of these models, Thanx a bunch
A: I personnaly like the VW GTI much more. Looks for sporty, import-ish, more unique, speedy, lots of upgrades. The Mazdaspeed3 is cool too, though. I wouldnt reccomend the Civic SI. I've never understood why someone would buy a Honda for a "sporty" kind of car. Hondas are quality vehicles, but boring...older person vehicles lol

A: I have a friend that is running 17's on his and the wheel wells are full. He also dropped it 2 inches though. Hope I have been helpful.

Q: 2007 VW GTI speed reading secret?
Someone told me that I could get my actual speed to show up that I am traveling at on the passanger side tempature gage. Something about needing to put it on econ mode and something else. I am confused. Has anyone else tried this and know what I am asking about?
If you press the ECON button along with the UP circulation button at the same time. You will see the temp screens change. Turn the diver side to the left to reflect 19, then turn the fan speed one click to the right and you will see your actual speed on the passenger side temp screen.
Nothing is wrong with using the speedometer. I just want to try it out just because I can and it seems cool just to see it.. :P

Q: 2007 VW GTI (4 door) or Lincoln MKZ?
I am buying a new car and can't decide.
A: That's an odd pair to choose from, they are very different cars. If you want something that's fun to drive, and with a stick shift, then the GTI would be the answer. If you want a luxurious, comfortable cruiser then go with the MKZ.
They also tend to appeal to very different crowds, which may influence your decision. The GTI skews more towards 18-30 year olds. The MKZ is more like 32+. Let's face it, if you're spending $30k on a car, it's about more than just getting from point A to point B.
Q: how fast is the 2007 vw gti? 0-60?
A: not overly fast. Id guesstimate in the 6.5-7 second range. Theyre not designed to be drag cars though. Theyre designed to be fun, spunky cars, not horsepower monsters.
then again, a chip on one adds like 50 hp, which will drop the 0-60 time down to about 6 flat, possibly under.
Q: I have a 2007 VW GTI and want to upgrade the suspension what should i get.?
i really need help trying to decide what kind and which brand of suspension i should get. That being a set of coilovers or matching springs and struts (cup kit), also which company is the best to use, Bilstein, Koni, H&R , etc. i am thinking about these plus others and cant make up my mind what to get but other suggestions are welcome i have done a lot of research and just cant make a decision the car is generally for street use and i haven't decided whether or not to take it to the track yet but i still want a better ride not that it is bad but just want it to be better please help...
A: I'm not sure what you mean by "better ride", but generally ANY suspension mods are gonna result in a rougher ride. If you go with coilovers you'll be able to corner like you're in a cartoon, but it won't feel great. Still, the trade off has always been worth it to me. My recommendation is Tein. I'd go with a Coilover Damper Kit. They have two types for your car. The EURO coilover setup is fairly soft and will greatly improve handling without negative ride effects. The SS-P kit is more for a hardcore racer/autocrosser. I'd stick with the EURO in your case. Getting the SS-P will ruin any chances with the ladies since they'll just complain about how your car makes their boobs hurt. Hope this helps.
