A: GTI by far.
The Scion tC has 160HP.
0-60mph in 7.4 seconds.-Exactly the same as Mazda 3.
Top Speed around 130mph.
The GTI has 200HP turbo engine.
0-60mph in 6.5 seconds.-Same as Honda Civic Si and Acura RSX Type S.
Top Speed is 142mph.
I think the GTI looks better from the front and side, but the Scion looks better in the back with the nicer tail lights.
The GTI is better.

And the GTI gets better gas mileage too by 2mpg. And the GTI has a sport tuned suspension, bigger wheels and wider tires.

A: that depends on what you prefer...personally i only drive manuals unless its a truck...I used to drive a gti and trust me that manual is a lot of fun. also consider if you want to do any aftermarket modifications to the car as well.
Q: How do you take the engine cover off of a 2008 VW GTI?
A: Very very carefully. Check out www.vwvortex.com or www.golfmkv.com and SEARCH for engine cover removal. There are several good threads on there about taking the engine cover off, but basically you have to pull very carefully around the entire engine cover and it should pop off. But check the forums first, there is some good info there with pictures. Good luck.
Q: type of gas in 2008 VW GTI?
I am planning on leasing a 2008 VW GTI in about 2 weeks. I talked to a salesman at the dealership and he said Premium Fuel is a must in the GTI.
What kind of fuel can I use?

A: Premium fuel if you want the performance that VW states the car will have. You can use the other grades, but you may have a drop in horsepower/knocking or terrible gas mileage. My FJ Cruiser requires premium and runs terrible without it.
Q: VW 2008 GTi hands free?
I just leased a new VW GTi and there is a phone symbol on the steering wheel. Does anyone know how to set up the hands free/blue tooth system?
A: It depends... all GTI's have the phone symbol on the steering wheel... but not all have the bluetooth system. If it is the basic model (package one) then it does not have it. I am uncertain if package two has it. You can always refer to the owners manual, and that will tell you how to set it up, if your GTI does have bluetooth.
Q: 2008 vw gti manual or automatic?
which one is better for speed...on the website the auto was faster, how bout in the 1/4 mile.
A: Both great transmissions, but if your going to leave the car stock go with the automatic and if your going to modify the GTI stick to manual. Then again this is just my opinion, but the 6-speed does about mid to high fourteens depending on the driver and the DSG automatic will always shift 2/10s of a second faster of that stock time.

A: no the gti does not have all wheel drive it has front wheel drive
Q: im leaning towards buying either the 2008 honda civic si or vw gti?
The thing is that im aware that the new evo and sti are coming, so im confused on which car is a better buy as far as performance, reliability and car appeal.
A: They all have there draw backs. the most reliable is going to be the Honda mechanical nay ways it will fall apart on the inside but if you can stand the rattles and trim pieces falling off then they are good cars. The sti is a nice care but its reliability is right in line with the gti. So I would say if you are buying new you will get a warranty so go with a STI or a GTI.

Q: 08 VW GTI hit by truck...Repair cost?
I have a 2008 VW GTI and someone in a Uhaul truck clipped my front driver side while I was parked. He was going pretty slow so its only "medium" damage but much more than just a scratch. The entire front corner is damaged. There is damage to the bumper and to the rim, Im guessing both will have to be replaced. It doesnt seem like there is any mechanical damage though. The driver is covered by Uhaul up to $5000 and after that I have to pay the rest and the fight for the driver to pay thru court. This is a brand new car so I want it fixed as best as possible, no cheap fixes. How much should I be looking at? Best case/worst case? Do you think it could possible cost over $5000? Thanks.

A: Go with the Accord coupe, because it is a more professional looking car. People would take you more seriously if you pulled up in that, a lot more so than they would the gti hatchback. The Honda will also keep its value a lot longer, and the Accord's reliability rating is impeccible.
Q: Would you choose a MkV GTI or MkV R32?
If you were to buy a 2006/2007/2008 VW GTI or a 2008 VW R32, which one would you pick? The GTI is a 2.0 Turbo and is FWD and probably faster if you chip it and the R32 is a 3.2 liter V6 and is AWD... Which one would you pick? I need advice on buying either the MkV GTI or MkV R32.
A: It depends on why you want the car. Or as I like to call it the PURPOSE. If your purpose is a daily-driver and weekend Track car, then the R32. If the purpose is a fast car never to drive on a track, the the GTi. SCCA rules list the GTi as G stock while the R32 is D stock. My little(engine size) Jetta is at the bottom in H stock.
