Q: is it possible to get a 2008 1.9 tdi vw golf blue motion fully loaded with sat nav, leather seats etc?
Just wondered....

A: No. There were no 2008 TDi's. I am not sure if they make it in a 4motion either for 2009, but you should be able to get it well equipped. However, expect to pay a premium, there is already a long list for 2009's and they are selling over list YES - I am in the US. We did not have 2008 models, nor did we have a bluemotion.

Q: The new 2008 VW clean Diesels?
I want to get the New VW diesel in 2009 or 2010. It's very clean burning. But will I be able to get a clean Diesel VW Rabbit or Golf 2 door with a 5 speed manual transaxle/transmission/gear box? And most of all, can I get it to run on Bio Diesel?

A: The common rail diesel motor has many issues trying to get certified to meet the stiff emmissions requirements of the US, but especially those of California, where the strictest emmission standards in the world exist. At this point in time, the diesels are scheduled to go on sale in the US late in the spring as 2009 models, however, given VW's record of delays in general, I have my doubts that it will make this. (See previous entries for the VW diesel questions). The issue of bio diesel has not been resolved yet; but, in past models, VW has ONLY RECOMMENDED B5 BIO-DIESEL, which means that it has a 5% bio-diesel blend to regular diesel fuel. Use of any other bio diesel exceeding the 5% limit, will void the warranty on the injection system, motor and emmission control system tied to the bio diesel usage. Most likely, it will be sold with a manual transmission as standard equipment, as have past models, with the automatic as an option. I do not know, nor does anyone else I know, know whether or not the DSG box will be sold with the new diesel motor. VW will issue dealers bullentins and training materials when the model is close to being sold; so far, none my current dealership contacts has heard or been issued any material other than rumours about the new diesel. So, far, the CRD diesel has been disappointing in milage ( the technology is being used in Chrysler products right now) and so far at least, its proven to be noisy, rough running and not the huge improvement in fuel economy that had been hoped for. Reliability of the new technology is still open, as not enough experience to date has been logged or reported upon. VW is rumoured to be licensing the technology used in the Mercedes/Chrylser CRD, so at least some conclusions can be drawn. Hope this helps, a car nut.

Q: What amplifier i need for my car PC project?
I have a 2008 VW golf GT with the standard 8 speakers package and i am planning to put a car pc. I will remove the oem Head Unit and put a 7" inch lcd monitor. I will need an amplifier to connect the speakers to it and then the amplifier to the carpc. My question is what type of amplifier i will need? I will have to buy 2 4-channel amplifiers? Thanks in advance

A: A 4-channel with an optional mono amp for subs. For a "carputer" the idea is to have a "non-hard drive" based computer that runs stand alone Windows XP/Vista from a Bootable USB drive that runs the music player of your choice using plugins. Your MP3's are stored on another USB drive that can be removed for editing. This all ties into your sound system (amps, subs/speakers). No hard drive means nothing will crash. A touch screen display is really the only other peice of equipment needed that can be custom mounted in your dash as you say. Look up BartPE and Sherpya. These two guys found a way to run the full GUI of Windows XP on a USB drive (under 600 Mb). A shuttle style computer is all you need for the computer. You can even have 5.1 or 7.1 Dolby digital. Q: new VW GOLF VI??
i am thinking about buying the golf V , but heared rumors that VI will be released in 2008 so i might wait to buy the new one. anyone know when will it be released??

A: As far as I know VW is not planning on releasing a redesigned Rabbit anytime soon.

Q: Which one of these economic cars should my 22 year old, male friend get?
Please choose from the following 2 options and give reason for your choice: 1. 2008 VW City Golf 2. 2008 Honda Civic DX

A: I strongly recommend the 2008 Honda Civic, but do not get the DX model under any circumstances. The DX has no air conditioning, as well as smaller tire base (thinner tires). The LX is what your friend should be looking at. By the way, Volkswagon saying that they get great gas mileage is a load of crap. VW and german engineering will be much more to maintain and/or modify, so it is not a cheap option. The Honda civic has a really well rounded engine, great precision steering, a peppy engine, a complete digital display in the dashboard (including a digital speedometer), higher crumple zone crash engineering, as well as outstanding gas mileage.

Q: Whats Better. MAZDA RX* OR VW GOLF GTI?
brand new 2008 which one is better

A: Mazda the mazda is more reliable and has a proven engine. you can more comfortably push it to the edge. the VW is quick and fun to drive but not as confident when driven at it's limit. for my money the Mazda looks better and makes it easier to play hard. fyi consumer reports recommends the Mazda but not the VW citing it as receiving below average scores for mechanical reliability.

Q: What is the ranking of the following VW models, CrossFox, Suran, & Golf ?
I wan to buy a VW Car, there are many models , but I am focusing on these models "2008" ,rankem taking into consideration the best air condition and the best ones for high ways, and dig- dags upon travelling.// What is the ranking of the following VW models, CrossFox, Suran, & Golf ? A: golf has the best air conditioning by far. no comparison between the three. good luck!

Q: Know anything about the 2009 VW Touran?
I read online somwhere that VW was releasing a new cross-over (new to the US at least since it's been available for years in Europe) called the Touran. It's supposed to come out late 2008 and feature a refitted Golf body and comfy third row seating. Anyone know where I can find out more about this care? Like the project gas mileage. I'm guessing it'll be gasoline in the US not like the deisel options in Europe.

A: Unfortunately, the touran will not be making a U.S. appearance. Instead we are offering the comperable Tiguan. It is a foot short and about 7 inches less wide than the Touareg 2. Fuel wise it will be getting an average of 16-22 intown and 20-26 on the highway. for more information on the Tiguan or Touran you can visit www.vw.com

Q: Fellas: What car would you prefer a girl drive? Which would be the hottest?
2007/8 Chevy Tahoe 2006-8 Mitsubishi Eclipse Hardtop/Convertible 2008 Honda Accord Coupe 2006 BMW 325i 2006 VW Golf 2007/8 Toyota Camry 2008 Nissan Altima Sedan/Coupe or...(any suggestions?) Ummm...I mean seriously. Which car would make you look twice? Why? No out there or pervert remarks. I would get the Pontiac Solstice or Saturn Sky, but my parents won't let me get a roadster. (If you haven't realized it, I'm under 18.)

A: Your goal is to get noticed and unless your car sticks out from the crowd who's going to notice you? What I mean is that if the area you're in (I'm going to guess west coast) is full of the cars you mentioned, how are you going to stand out. If you get the Beemer, people will look, even if it's in a hardtop (but a convertible would be even sexier). For the rest of the cars, get one with a nice color & nice wheels to stand out. Put something creative on your license plate holder so that guys who read it will take notice & drive up to check you out. The BMW (convertible if possible). This shows off an elegant ladylike quality - like a woman wearing an evening dress to a black & white dinner event. The Tahoe - If fixed up this can also look good, and would reflect an athletic girl. This can be sexy too. (Think about gas prices though). The Eclipse - a cheaper version of the above. But only driving the convertible will get you noticed. Honda Accord - less sexy unless it's fixed up and well kept. Golf - Out of the question, too 90's. Toyota - axe it, it's a family car. A car your parents would drive. Nissan sedan - NO - like the toyota Nissan coupe - fix it up to get noticed. BOTTOM LINE - don't be fake. If the car doesn't reflect who you are, don't force it either. Otherwise, you'll attract the wrong kind of guy.

Q: If you had to choose one of these 3 cars for a long roadtrip....
which would you choose? The roadtrip will be about 4000 miles roundtrip, from the midwest to LA and back through the southwest in late fall. All three cars are in reasonably good shape, and have good stereos. You have your choice of: 1995 Subaru sedan, auto, FWD, 150K, no sunroof, ~27 mpg. Comfy, fast without being (ahem) noticeable. 2003 VW Golf diesel, 5-sp, sunroof, 100k, ~48 mpg. Big hatch, comfy, but can get cramped on long trips. 2008 Toyota 4Runner 4WD, sunroof, 9k, ~24 mpg. Huge, can go off-road. We aren't planning on going on any really rough roads except in some of the national parks, gas price is a factor, but so is room because we're planning on camping. Any thoughts? Thanks!

A: Id go for the 2008 Toyota because you'd be suprised how much gear you need for camping. All that stuff ads up. Better to be comfy anyway. I'm so jealous...I want to go on a roadtrip... Have fun ;)

Q: Which car should I choose???
2008 Accord Coupe 2007/2008 Eclipse--Hardtop vs. Convertible? 2004 350z (with at least 40,000 miles on it) 2006 VW Golf (with at least 20,000 miles on it) 2008 Altima sedan 2008 Altima Coupe

A: 2008 Accord Coupe with the V6 engine and 6 speed manual transmission!! I own a 2005 Accord EX coupe V6, and I love it!! It has 106,000 miles on it, and not 1 problem has occured. All I do is use synthetic oil and bring it to my mechanic for every scheduled maintenance, and that is it! These cars are extremely reliable. The 08 version has an awesome V6 VTEC engine that pushes out more than 270HP!! The GPS system is great, it also features voice and touch screen controls for audio, HVAC, and other features. The leather seats are very comfortable and hold you tight when you are screaming thru the corners. I cannot find anything wrong with this car, especially the 08 version that has more power, and even better looks. My 2nd choice would be the 350Z, but since I live in Maine, I really do not want a RWD vehicle for my everyday car. The 08 Eclipse is beautiful, and very fast, but lacks reliability of Honda. Good Luck!

Q: Here's a hint VW...stop with "Made in Mexico"?
http://www.caranddriver.com/previews/12424/first-drive-2008-volkswagen-jetta-tdi.html Here is an interesting article, yet it fails to mention Jetta's come from Mexico, while the Golf/Rabbit is built in Germany. When they put the BlueTec engine in a Golf, I'll consider it. Until then, still TOO many quality issues which will never be resolved designing/engineering a first-rate machine built by people who have shown year after year they don't give a damn wabout what they do beyond collecting a paycheck.

A: It dosn't matter where it's made. VW's suck.

A: The Eclipse convertible is a total chick car. Next would be the BMW, then the Golf. Another great car would be the Pontiac Solstice. Ladies look really sexy in convertibles. The Camry and Accord are too conservative, your parents car. And don't even consider a Truck. Trucks are not for ladies.
