Q: Identify this part on VW Golf IV PLEASE??
Hello, I have a VW Golf IV Variant,2001,TDI. Can you help me to figure out what this actualy is. It is around 5 cm long part. It is sticked on the windscreen from inside ( 10 cm to the right of the central mirror and above seat that is next to the drivers seat. You can check it out on the photos if you follow the link below. It has a kind of an electrical plug inside and has two wires sticking out from it and going into the roof. Thanks http://www.volkswagenforum.com/m_1967/tm.htm

A: It looks to me as if it is there for the purpose of receiving or sending information. Most likely a GPS ( Global Positioning System ), or some other form of tracking device or a reader. Similar to those used on the highways to record your trips so you don't have to stop at the toll. If you just bought the car, the first thing I would do, would be to go to an alarm specialist or second prefference 'electrician' and have the electricals checked and the alarm re-coded. <== trust me on that one. Or at least get full insurance cover...
