Q: How come some people drive regular VW Golf where they could purchase VW Golf TDI instead and save tons on gas?
TDI is diesel engine that is much much more fuel efficient. THANKS.

A: Well, there are a few factors -price (i know that in canada, the city golf is 14,000$, and i don't even think we have a golf tdi) -price of diesel (some people see diesel as more expensive so they go for the gas engine, not really thinking) - availability of diesel (it can be hard at times to find diesel gas in certain places, or so i've heard) -some people believe that diesel engines are noisier and louder than their gasoline counterpart, but this was true with old engines, since the newer ones are comparable to gasoline engines. It all comes down to personal preference as well.

Q: How can I make my VW Golf TDI faster?
It is an automatic. I already have Rocketchip stage 3 and the nozzles from a manual golf.

A: WELL YOU CAN: do an intake and exhaust(full turbo back) as most power is seen at the downpipe. a short ram intake will also help and make the turbo noise much more noticable. if you have the $ you can go BT (big turbo) however this is a large step. i'd recomend since u have a chip to install the following... exhaust, intake, n75 valve, and a new diverter valve. i own a 2002 vw gti 1.8t i have a few of the listed mods and am working on more... a great site to look at is www.vwvortex.com lots of great information! good luck

Q: Both heated seats on my 2001 VW Golf TDI are not working. The fuse is ok so can anyone help with a solution?
As mentioned i have checked the fuse which is fine. VW have said they would just replace the heating element at a cost of £400. A cheaper solution or way of finding the problem would be preferred. Thanks.

A: with a heated seat there aer relays check and see if it is bad it is a main power feed problem if they both do not work also check all of your fuses sometimes the fuse marked heated seat it not allways for the heated seat. good luck

Q: 04 VW Golf TDI, What would causes the battery light to come on and off while driving?
While driving the batter light came on, and a few miles later it turned off. 50 miles later the same thing happened again. The car seems to be running fine and does not show any symptoms of a dead battery. I'm wondering if the alternator is failing?

A: German Engineering haha

Q: where can i find a really cheap battery for my vw golf tdi?
it seems to have a 74ah / 680 amp on at the moment.

A: You get what you pay for I reckon so wouldn't recommend getting a cheap one unless you can find the same say £100 battery for £20. Be Lucky in your search.

Q: What does the yellow coil light mean on the dashboard of a vw golf TDI mk 4?
Just wondering as it keeps flashing up as i am driving now and again, the other day all the dash lights came on and the car just cut out as i was driving, any ideas please?

A: It's the glow plug light it also acts as an engine management light, (check hand book or dealers) on some vehicles...

Q: Theres an exhaust mgmt warning light on my 04 VW Golf TDI - is it safe to drive it till I get to the garage?
Its driving fine, and I can't get it booked in till Friday - what could be wrong with it, and will I make it worse if I drive it till then? Cheers!

A: it is safe to drive at the moment, the warning light is to tell you the computer has registered something that isnt normal, it could be a faulty sensor or your emmisions are high, it could be loads of different things, if the problem was serious enough to damage your engine the computer would put you into get you home mode which you would notice as it limits you to around 2800 revs. when you get to the garage they will plug it into a diagnostic that will read the fault and pinpoint the problem. Hope this helps, remember the computer on the car decides what is going on with the management of you car if it is allowing you to run normally it needs looking at but is not something that will cause damage, however it may develope over time, when this happens the computer will try to limit that damage by restricting your engine. but do get it looked at as quick as you can for piece of mind

Q: I need to replace the fuses in my 2003 VW Golf TDI. Does anyone know what size fuses go in which slot?
Some of the fuses are missing so I can't just replace them. Is there anywhere I can find a fuse size list? I've already checked the owners manual and it doesn't include a fuse list. And some fuses are missing because I stupidly harvested them for other burnt fuses thinking it would be easy to replace them.

Q: How much will it cost to replace the clutch on my 2002 VW Golf TDi?

A: i would say £250-£300 at an independent garage, £400 plus at the dealer

Q: How do i find a used 05 / 06 vw golf tdi?
Wer'e looking for a certified 4 door vw turbo diesel golf in North Cal Oregon or Nevada

A: check ebaymotors.

Q: VW Golf Tdi Mk3, fuse 14 (reverse light) blows & electric windows stop working any thoughts on the cause?
I currently dont have a manual for my Mk3 Tdi, but the fuse keeps blowing for the windows/reversing lights, does anyone have any ideas where to start looking for the cause of this fault?

A: Check the door jams where the wiring runs from the body to the doors. The other possibility is those vw's are know to leak thru the windshield onto the fuse panel, pull the panel down and look for corrosion on the wiring and terminals. My money is on the door jam wiring tho, Good luck

Q: vw golf tdi doors lock within seconds of opening could it be a faulty central locking pump?

A: It depends how many seconds. If you don't open any of the doors within 30 seconds of unlocking them then they will lock again. This is a safety feature in case you unlock them by accident and then walk away from the car.

Q: 2001 VW Golf TDI with 305000 miles?
i am looking at a 2001 VW Golf TDI, it is in good condition but it has 305000 miles on it. and they want 5995 for it. is this worth it or am i going to have my suspension start going on and stuff? and is 305000 miles to much even for a german diesle?

A: It is on the high side omileagege; now having said that, a lot will depend upon thmaintenancece history on the vehicle. If it has a COMPLETE HISTORY, with all supporting paperwork (invoices, log book, etc.), then it might, I repeat, might be a good candidatete for purchase if you can lower the price. Keep in mind, even if the engine should prove to be in good condition, unless lots of other parts have been replaced, those parts are nearing the end of their normal lifespan. Rubber bushings in the suspension, shocks, brake rotors (they wear to minimum thickness in a hurry!), motor and transmission mounts, clutch, drive shafts, cv boots, steering linkage parts, etc. All of these parts are subject to normal wear and tear issues and if they haven't been replaced, they will surely need it very soon. Assuming for a moment that you actually have a wad of service invoices for this vehicle, you will need to see when the timing belt, water pump, tensioners, cam/crank/intermediate shaft seals have been replaced; what is the compression of the motor, has a leak down test been performed; what is the frnt seats like, i.e., sagging foam and springs, etc.; carpet, a/c function, safety equipment, shift cables, ... and on and on... A replacement motor will cost as much as you might be paying for the vehicle and you'd still have a body shell and other parts that have a lot of miles on it. From my standpoint, I'd pay no more than $2000 for such a vehicle, especially given that it is likely that you will have to replace/repair a lot of parts to make it a reliable daily driver. If you still have a serious interest in the car, have a local VW specialist check the vehicle out for you; it does not have to be the dealership, but someone who works on these vehicles day in and day out in order to receive the information that you need,. Hope this helps, a car nut.

Q: 2002 Ford Focus TDDI or 2000 VW Golf TDI?
These 2 hatchbacks are within the similar price range, which one is more reliable, which one is more problematic? #51 reg ford focus ghia 1.8 TDDI £3600, not the new TDCI engine #W reg VW golf 1.9 TDI £3700 all comments welcome. thx all.

A: depends on what you want because i for one would go with the VW because its a german car and that says a lot and i just LOVE golfs, from the mk 1's to the R32's.It also depends if it has a lot of miles, you would have to look at their service records and it depends if you're the patriotic type because then the ford is for you :D and i really think that german cars are very reliable even though volkswagen means the peoples wagen(car) and in the beginning it was meant to be a cheap and sturdy car that anyone can afford.I hope i was able to help you in your decision.
