Q: How can I remove the electronic device (governor?) from my 2006 VW Jetta GLI?
My 2006 VW Jetta GLI has an electronic device (governor?) that limits it to a top speed of 130m/hr instead of its capability of 180m/hr. How and where do I remove/fix this situation?

A: i'm not 100% sure on this for a MKV, but when you install a chip, it usualy removes or raises the speed govenor and rev limiter. it doesnt say for sure on APR's website, but check it out: http://www.goapr.com/VW/products/ecu_upgrade_mkvjetta.html it does make a bunch of promises about more power and such, and there is nothing wrong with that! you can also search the forums at www.vwvortex.com ...i'm sure there is something there

But i heard that VW Jetta's have all sorts of electrical problems but then i heard that the 2006 jetta's dont have that problem...... i want to get the story straight so if anyone has a 2006 vw Jetta can you please help me out?

A: I have a 2006 Jetta TDI and have had no electrical issues whatsoever. I have heard VWs have a history of electrical problems, but, have had none in the two years I've owned the car.

Q: does the 2006 VW jetta have a smart key and push button start like the toyota prius?

Q: Where can I find an aftermarket exhaust and Cold air intake for my 2006 VW Jetta GLI?
Without jacking up the warranty!!!

A: Have you checked out www.vwvortex.com? Its one of many sites tailoring to VW's and Audi's and the people who drive them. Thats probably the best place to get your answer. Personally I would recommend getting it chipped. Its the biggest bang for your buck. I believe APR's chip for the MK5 is rated at like 250 crank HP. I dont know for sure though, I stay true to the old school VW's.

Q: How do I change the mirror turn signal light on a 2006 VW Jetta?
bulb is burnt out

A: Take it to a garage as you have to strip the mirror . If you do it and break anything it costs you money. If they break anything......

Q: Information on 2006 Jetta VW, Please?
I own a VW 2006 Jetta. The other day, I opened the compartment right next to the drivers right handside and saw a small nob inside it. I usually have my right hand resting on this compartment, its between teh driver's seat and the front passanger's seat. There is a small wheel/knob that you can turn and if you keep turning it, there seems to be a hole in the middle of it where you can put your finger in. I havent put it in because i dont know what it is. I have searched the manual twice and I dont see anything about it. But you can turn it to open and close the hole.

A: Your car should be still under warranty so go to the dealer and ask for that.I have no clue what this could be.

Q: 2006 VW Jetta?
I have a 2006 Jetta TDI, on the dash next to the oil change wrench a clock has come up what does it mean?

A: That may not be a clock. If it looks like a circle with 3 curved dashes on each side of it, it the indicator telling you that the front brake pads are too thin and need to be replaced.

Q: 2006 VW Jetta 2.5 Service Intervals?
According the manual the service interval (including oil change) for the 2006 Jetta 2.5L is 5,000, 10,000 then 20,000, 30,000 etc. I've done the 5K and 10K service so I thought the next service would be 15K. I am surprised to find out the next is actually 20K. Since I do a lot of city driving is better just to stick to every 5,000 miles for oil and service? Never heard of a car that goes 10,000 miles between oil changes.

A: it's what volkswagen recommends. my 2003 calls for 5,000 mile service intervals, so that's what i use. if your Jetta is good for 10,000 miles, i'd go 10,000 miles. if there is a schedule for "special driving conditions" then you might want to follow that. most manufacturers consider stop and go driving, or short quick trips a special driving condition.

Q: how is the 2006 vw jetta?
are they reliable, tend to need a lot of repairs? any problems with that particular make or year?

A: Mechanically, yes, they are reliable. But they are German cars. All german cars have electrical problems. According to consumer reports, the 2006 and newer Jetta is very reliable and has not been known to get problems.

Q: Does anyone know the proper procedure for removing the rear seat from a 2006 VW Jetta?

A: Remove the bottom. Lift up, and take out. Find the clips that hinge the back of the seat and remove them first....seat comes out.

Q: Can anyone tell me what the standard speaker wattage in a 2006 VW Jetta 2.5L is?

Q: Where can I find an inexpensive 2006 VW jetta?

A: what do you mean by inexpensive. what's your budget. I'll be looking around to spend about 13k for a 06 Jetta.

Q: 2006 vw jetta gli has a bad cylinder , should the engine be replaced?
I found out that my nw car has a bad cylinder, should i allow the dealership fix it or demand a new engine or car. The car is less than a year old and only 20,ooo miles. I heard knocking in the engine 10,000 miles ago and they said it was normal.what do i do help please!!!!

A: They let it go 10,00 miles before taking action? Bad cylinder and knocking- have they said what exactly they think failed? Connecting Rod, Wrist pin, Piston, Crank bearing????? Most dealers will try to fix some of these, but upon examination may change their mind and replace the engine. VW isn't as bad as Toyota and Honda about this. You have a 100,000 mile engine warranty? If so let them do it, scary but safe. If not raise cain for a new motor, because scab patching till the warranty expires is not REAL CUSTOMER SERVICE. The 10,000 miles with the problem should be very upseting to you. What if your engine failed during a critical trip or bad conditions due to their negligence. "That is normal" is so blatantly bad a thing to tell a cust. ASE Cert Auto Tech, 92 GTI16V 2.0L

Q: What 2006 VW jETTA uses diesel fuel?
