Q: Will my new, used 2004 VW passat 2.0 be hurt now that I have not been using premium gas for the past 3 months?
I bought a used 2004 passat 2.0 3 months ago and for the first 2 months, I put regular gas in it. The past month I have been putting mid-grade, but just reading the owner's manual that it should be filled w/ premium. Is the engine going to be hurt now?

A: no, the car will be just fine.

Q: Used VW Passat key problem.?
Not knowing about the two master keys and the valet key I purchased a used 1998 VW passat. Reading the manual I see that the one key I was given is the valet key which doesnt open the trunk, glove compartmen or child safety locks. Is it possible to get a new Master key from the dealer without one. I also heard that they are expensive, so If i bought one off ebay would the dealer cut it still?

A: no the dealer would not cut a key. you have to order one from the dealer who then has the manufacturer cut the key. and yes it is expensive around 100 dollers.

Q: is 131,435 miles on a 2001 VW passat good or bad because i am looking at getting a used Passat for my first?
car but i don't know if the miles on the car could be potential problems

A: VW has traditionaly been known as a reliable and cheap means of transportation. However, I feel the Pasat is costly to repair compared tom other VW models. The Jetta is more reliable but repair costs are compatible to the Pasat. VW engines are wonderful. If properly maintained, the engine should exceed 250k miles. The only issue that the Pasat (and Jetta for that mater)have are the transmisions.Usually, just after 100k they need rebuilding. Find out if the trans has had work. See how the car shifts up and down in gear.It should be smooth and non struggling. Hope it helps..............

Q: What kind of special transmission fluid does a 2003 VW Passat use?
I know it's not your usual transmission fluid, it specially used by Volkswagen. Just wondering what the specific name of it is, and possibly how to get it.

A: the best transmition fluid you can buy is the one from the dealer. then your transmition will not get damaged. also dont mix to diffrent fluids together!

Q: Is there any way of getting money for a WELL USED and NON-FUNCTIONING VW Passat?
The "block" in my radiator we believe has cracked. the oil and water are mixing. Unfortunately, we don't think that's all that's wrong with it. But are not mechanically included to know what. The car is not cosmetically in great or even good condition. However, I am BROKE and am hoping there is a way to get something for this NON-STARTING Volkswagen Passat 1997? Any help would be super! I live in San Francisco in case that helps.

A: Sure, a junk yard should give you a couple hundred bucks for it. It sounds like you either have a cracked engine block or blown head gasket. That would be the only cause of the oil and water mixing. If you drove it for a while like that, then you probably did some serious damage to the engine. You can also try ebay. People are always looking for scrap cars for parts.

Q: Do I trade my Lincoln Navigator in for the VW Passat S/W?
I have a 2004 Lincoln Navi with about 55000mi and am under on my car for my loan, gas is crazy expensive and my payments are ALOT! Do i get rid of the car for lower payments and lower gas consumption for a used 2004 VW passat s/w with 56000mi? I need a car with some space for kids and a dog? any other good cars that are CHEAP?!

A: I Would even though i love lincolns especially navigators but gas is awful right now and it is probley a v8 huh? wow i bet it guzzles the gas yeah i would so trade it or let it go back but it will also hurt your credit i dont know how your going to go about it if its the same dealer or what but if it was up to me yeah anyways vw passat is extra cute

Q: Does an 2008 VW passat need premium gas?
i just bought a used 2008 passat a week a go. and i was wondering what type of gas will i need to use. i have already filled it up with regular. i wonder is it required or recomended, because i dont like spending extra on premium gas

A: The turbo engine requires premium fuel (2.0 liter 4 cylinder ) the 6 cylinder motor is recommended for premium fuel, however, mid grade would probably be ok. For best performance and economy, premium fuel would be best for the 6 cylinder motor, for the 4 cylinder its a must! You could probably get away with regular fuel; but, you'd most likely build up carbon deposits in the motor which would reduce performance and economy over the long term.. I don't recommend the usage of regular fuel except for the 2.5 liter 5 cylinder motor and the older 2.0 liter NON TURBO 4 cylinder. Don't forget that your 2008 VW Passat requires usage of special synthenic oil ; you don't have to go to the dealer, you can use Mobil 1 0-40 European formula to meet the VW requirement and save 30-40% per quart over the dealer price. Don't try to cheap out by using regular oil; you'll shorten the life of the motor and reduce your fuel economy as well. Hope this helps, a car nut.

Q: What can you use to get the anti theft lug nuts off of my 2003 VW Passat?
The Key to take the lug nuts off was not in the car when I bought it. and the closest VW dealer is about 2 hours away. I got replacement lug nuts sent to me hoping that a tire dealer around my area would have a master set but everybody I have talked to said they have to have the key. I was just wondering if anybody has taken these off with anything other than the wheel key.

A: My friend took his off with a giant plumbing wrench. There is a website called passatworld.com that may be able to help you out. Also you might be able to order it online. I use http://www.germanautoparts.com for parts . They are relatively inexpensive compared to the dealer. I got scared thinking I might not have mine. So I checked the compartment by the tire and did not find it, so I looked in the glove compartment and there it was.

Q: What oil should I use in my 99 VW Passat V6 with 120K?
