Q: How do I take off the engine cover on my 2007 VW Rabbit?
I need to change the air filter, but I don't want to break the engine cover/damage anything else, and don't want to go to the dealership.

A: disconnect the air intake with channels locks. It takes some muscle but you just have to pull it straight up and off. Start with the front of the engine cover and pull up then go to the back. there sould be 4 nipples attached to the motor just pull the rubber grommets off of those nipples and reinsert them back into the engine cover prior to putting it back on. the filter is inside the engine cover. Good Luck.

Q: Does anyone know how to put a front license plate mount on a 2007 VW Rabbit?
The car came with a black plastic like solid mount that was not mounted to the front of the car. Not a license plate, but the actual mount that you would attach a license plate to. The kit came with some kind of plug things that attaches the mount or "base" to the front grill area of the car.

A: What they didn't tell you is that holes will need to be drilled into the front bumper cover for these inserts to go into. BE CAREFUL!! Sometimes if you are really nice and maybe float a 5 dollar bill to a VW tech.....(did I say that?!) he can put in on in about 2 minutes.

Q: How do you reset the maintenence wrench light on a 2007 VW rabbit?
2007 2.5L 2 door rabbit.

A: You need to take it to a shop to have it reset. Then you can change the interval in which it comes back on, but from what I've been told about the 2007 Jetta, you can't reset it on your own.

Q: How do you like your 2007 VW Rabbit?
Do you find it comfortable? Does it do well in the snow - for those who purchased last year? I'm looking for a little more function than my Convertible New Beetle.

A: Well, i have a 2007 GTI and absolutely LOVE it. Its about 7 or 8k more, but its well worth it. They both have front wheel drive, havent driven in the snow, but im guessing they would do pretty well. Its very comfortable, and has good leg room in the front and back. If you cant get a gti for what ever reason...i would go for a rabbit. But that would be like going for a boxster when you could have a carrera...

Q: does anyone know where the air filter box in a 2007 vw rabbit?
we have found the replacement filter, just not sure where the filter box is

A: The Air box is under the main engine cover where the VW symbol is. pop the whole top cover off and there will be a few screws holding the air box to the main engine cover. * put a cold air intake into your engine with the adapters and the whole engine cover can be removed and about 10 lbs of dead weigh !! 2007 VW rabbit 2door body kit and cold air intake

Q: Looking for a mechanic for a 2007 VW rabbit, we are tired of the dealer. Is there anyone in Houston?
The dealer never lets me talk to the people who actually work on my car. They give me the cold shoulder when I ask questions and are just plane rude, it has gotten to the point where the warranty is not worth it.

A: Just go to another dealer, there are so many in Houston

Q: What is so great about 2007 VW Rabbit?
They are flying off the new car lot like crazy, you can't get a discount off of MSRP and forget about good deal on financing.

A: First off, the car is one of the only VW's still made and imported directly from Germany (Wolfsburg to be specific), and not Mexico. Second, it is not a brand new different car from the Golf. This is the same car that they sell in Europe, but they call it the Golf. Presumably they re-badged it to give it a sense of retro that seems to be popular with cars right now (Mustang, Camaro, Charger, etc.) To answer the question, I'm sure it is a mix between it being a relatively new vehicle so they kind of trickle them out as opposed to flooding the market with them; this way they can make it more desirable and sell it for more. It could be this, and maybe the fact that they have to be shipped from the European Union that account for its rarity.

Q: Is any 2007 VW rabbit owner had auto transmission problem? or transmission gears problem?
Everytime I drive my 07 rabbitin highway, about 60mile/hr, I want to exit , I didn't brake , I will feel my rabbit's transmission had big vibrate, like my transmisson's gear locked, I went to vw dealer, They can't find problem...... so sad

A: Seems like the lock-up converter is locking and not properly releasing. GM had a similar faulty design. That car should be covered under warranty. Does this help any?

Q: What do you think about the new 2007 VW rabbit?

A: Yeah, I checked out the review at http://www.nctd.com and wasn't all that impressed. The review was pretty mediocre in all aspects of the new car and it just doesn't seem to have any spirit or personality that a good car should have. I guess they need to decide what it is. Is it going to be a fun sporty car, daily reliable commuter, european canyon carver, etc.?

Q: How do you go about refinancing a 2007 VW?
What do I need to refinance my 2007 VW Rabbit? I had a 550 credit score when I first got the car, and now my score is in the 700's. I am looking to get a better interest rate and maybe a shorter loan length, currently 7 years. What do I need to do?

A: In order to refinance successfully you will need to take a copy of your current loan terms to a bank or credit union and ask them if they can help you refinance your car. As long as you can show that you have made regular payments, no 30 day lates, have verifiable income and can provide a deposit history into a bank account, they will run a new credit report and be able to help you out. Make sure to take along any copies of statements that you have on record so that they can easily see your payment history. Don't forget that insurance companies like State Farm can also finance your car! Good luck!

Q: How do i replace head unit on 2007 VW rabbit?
cant find out how to take stock radio out

A: You need the special radio removal keys. Available from the stealer, but much cheaper on eBay.

Q: is the 2007 VW Rabbit a fast car?
I was thinking about buying one and putting rims, Exhaust, Intake etc. on it, i test drive one of them at a dealrship and it was automatic, but it had Sports mode, i swear this car is very powerful when it is in Sports mode, it seemed to be very quick, i test drove the 2007 GTI also, it was fast as hell but it didnt seem that much of a difference in speed than the Rabbit, but in price its $10000 more, what you guys think?

A: This weekend, "Motor Week" (on PBS) reviewed the new Rabbit. Here is their link: http://www.mpt.org/motorweek/reviews/rt2613b.shtml

Q: how do replace the dead pedal on a 2007 vw rabbit?

A: I think the dead pedal is the pedal on the far left that you wedge your foot against when your really rippin into a turn but as far as changing it maybe look for something that unsnaps on the face and maybe some screws underneath?

Q: 2007 VW Rabbit Top Speed?
Does anyone know how fast my VW Rabbit can go before locking it out? KM/H would be appriciated. 2.5L 5 Cyl

A: All US models peak at 120 mph (193 km/h) because of the ECU programing, but it can be changed with a VAG-COM. The euro models aren't de tuned like the US cars are. Not sure about Canadas

Q: 2007 VW Rabbit Front End?
I have a 07 VW Rabbit and I wanted to know if there is anything that is worth about 50$ on the front end (bumper area that is internal or external). Another car hit me recently because my friend was distracting me (no damage). I wasnt at fault but I would have been able to prevent all of this if my freind wasnt being a idiot. He owes me 50$ from a while ago and said he already paid me back (he didnt im 100% sure) and I was thinking on telling him that something wroth 50$ is broken. What on a 07 VW Rabbit's front end area is worth 50$ to replace or repair? Something real because he knows a little bit about cars.

A: You could say Vw logo at the front , side markers, grill insert.
