Q: VW Rabbit GTI Lease question?
i have a 07 VW Rabbit leased for a 4 year agreement and it only has 4000 miles on it and ive had for almost 4 months, it is a very good and reliable car, i looked at the 07 GTI and it looks alot sportier and faster, my question is if i have the 4 year deal on the rabbit will the VW dealer be able to continue the 4 year deal but change my rabbit with a GTI, i know there will be a fine to pay but does anyone know, or how much i have to pay to do this?
A: Leasing is not like renting. You can't just swap one car for another and pay some kind of cost difference. It doesn't work that way.
With only 4 months on your lease, it would be VERY costly to get out early, maybe impossible because many lease companies don't allow terminations in the first 12 months.
With leases, you nearly always owe more on the lease than the car is worth. If you return it, the lease company will sell it at wholesale auction and bill you for the difference. Since your car has depreciated greatly in 4 months, this difference could be thousands of dollars.
I suggest you call your lease company, not your dealer, and find out if you can terminate and how much it would cost. My guess is that you'll end up choosing to stick with your current lease for the entire 4 years.
Q: VW Rabbit GTI or not?
Hello my husband and I really like the VW Rabbit and now we are just considering the regular VW Rabbit hatchback with the GTI sport. Any one choose one over the other and why? Also anything else you added or kept out of your car for a good reason? Thanks for your help :o)
A: It is just like the days when the rabbit was first introduced to the US back in the late 70's during 83 they made the first GTI model the SPORT MODEL more or less. The question to everyone thinking about a GTI or rabbit/Golf (same car just name changes over the years) the GTI leaves room for performance driving if u enjoy driving through curvy roads or racing in a armature league the GTI is definately the better choice. While if u are looking for a good and reliable car with some pep and the power to be quick if u want it the Rabbit/ Golf. it also revolves around how much u are willing to spend since the GTI is more than the Rabbit/Golf.
Hope this helps
BTW i still have an 83 Rabbit GTI and a 98 GTI VR6
Q: 2007 VW Rabbit, GTI question?
i bought a 2007 2 door VW Rabbit about 2 months ago, ever since then i have bought new rims for it and got a Greddy Catback Exhaust system for it which sounds pretty loud, now on to my question i recently looked on google and i saw the 0-60 for 07 Rabbit is 9 sec. and i checked the GTI 0-60 and it says 6.7 sec., i decided to take mine and test it out, i bought automatic so it comes with sports mode and i did 0-60 in 6.9 sec., did exhaust make my car go as fast as the GTI?
A: Sorry to bust the bubble. Your testing is inaccurate.
Get the 1/4 mile times from the brochure/magizine and run at a real racetrack and get "Official" times to compare.
2 things working against you- 0-60 by your speedo isn't the way the Factory/magazine tested it, they have added on equipment to do that. You have an automatic- sport or not slower! You changed the wheel/tire package "several" times since purchase and any error in the tire diameter will thrash the accuracy of your speedo.
The cognisenti do not accept that you actually got anywhere near a 6.X 0-60 MPH acceleration run. Sorry
Go run a 1/4 some saturday at a real drag strip and take a digital pic of your time sheet and post it up here to prove us all wrong!

Q: I have a 83 vw rabbit gti & wanted to do a engine swap. Wat engine could i drop in without to much diffculty?
A: Unless you have big bucks to spend, and have a fabricator in your pocket you'll go with your existing 1.8 . Now if you want to add some h.p. and responce change out your existing throttle body for one off a Audi 5000. You'll be flying!

Q: I have a 1983 VW Rabbit GTI
What is the value of this classic? It is in excellent condition with 85700 miles. No rust. One Owner. Engine has never been apart. Interior like new. All original. Garage kept.
A: Troll the boards at vwvortex.com. Ask around there. They are very passionate about "old school" VeeDubs. I'm sure you would find it a very appreciative home there.
Hell I might even be interested...
Q: VW rabbit vs VW gti?
I need to get a car am i like the look of the VW but im not sure which one
A: VW GTI Owner here.
So far no one is exactly right. The Rabbit and the GTI share the same platform/Unibody/ understructure and the same basic sheetmetal but have differing suspension settings/wheels and drivetrains.
The rabbit is the regular version and the GTI is the sport version with a sport supsension wheels and transmission as well as a different engine. The reg rabbit and jetta ( the same car in sedan form) has a 2.5 liter engine, it only produces 150 horsepower. The GTI has smaller engine, a 2.0 liter engine, but it has a turbo charger system that allows the smaller engine to produce 200 horsepower. Thus it is a much faster and sprotier car when combined with teh lowered suspension and stiffer struts and wheels etc.
The price difference between comparably equipped cars is about 2000.00 dollars. The GTI comes standard with many nice features. If you get a rabbit and make sure it has allhte same eqipment except the drivetrain stuff there is not huge difference in price to the GTI.
A base auto tran 4 door GTI is around 24 000.00
a similarly equipped rabbit is around 22,000 when equipped like the GTi

Q: Which is better for the enviornment, a 2007 VW Rabbit or a 2007 VW GTI?
A: i would think they would be the same.
Q: VW Rabbit or GTI?
IS it worth it to get the GTI or should I save a few bucks and get the rabbit?
A: Ok trust me on this one, get the Gti or you will regret it later. The Gti has a 2.0t fsi injected engine that is one of the best on the market. With the automatic you have Dsg, a transmission that has 2 clutches and shifts faster than anyone can shift a manual. It also has paddle shifters on the steering wheel, fun to drive , quick and the handling on the gti is way better. If you are buying the car to drive to and from work ok get the rabbit and save. But if you love a car that is built for driving and handling as good as a bimmer with a nice price break you would say gimme a gti please.
Q: does the floor mats for the vw gti 2 door fit exactly in the 2 door vw rabbit?
A: no
Q: 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit GTI - Clutch repair manuel?

A: Remove transmission. Hold flywheel in place using locking tool VW 558 or equivalent.
Loosen bolts evenly and remove flywheel.
Remove clutch disc.
Use a screwdriver to free the ends of snap ring "A" from bores (arrows) and remove. CAUTION: The retaining ring is a spring that will be released with force. Hold firmly when prying loose to avoid injury.
Remove release plate "B".
Pressure Plate Special Tool
Lock pressure plate using tool VW 558 or equivalent, then remove the pressure plate and the intermediate plate.
To install...
Position the pressure plate on the crankshaft.
Install new pressure plate mounting bolts. CAUTION: When installing a new pressure plate, always use new mounting bolts.
Hold the pressure plate in position with locking tool VW 558 or equivalent, and torque new bolts to 60 Nm (45 ft lbs) + 90° .
Place the clutch release plate in position and install the retaining ring.
Lightly lubricate the contact surface of the plate and the center seat for the clutch pushrod with lithium grease. NOTE: Always remove excess grease.
Align the ends of the retaining ring (arrow).
Coat the splines at the center of the clutch disc and transmission mainshaft with a thin layer of lithium grease or equivalent. Slide the clutch disc back and forth a few times on the main shaft, then wipe off any excess grease. CAUTION: Use only recommended grease on the splines, otherwise, the clutch disc may bind on the input shaft and cause hard shifting.
Install the clutch disc inside the flywheel. NOTE:
Only install clutch discs with nickel plated hubs. The projecting part of the clutch hub faces the flywheel, away from the engine.
These discs can be identified by the color of the hub. They have a shiney stainless steel like appearance.
Earlier version clutch disc hubs are phosphate coated. The hubs on these discs have a flat gray or black appearance, and must not be used.
Install the flywheel.
Position the flywheel on the dowel pins and start the mounting bolts in their holes. Leave the bolts loose enough so that the clutch disc can still move. CAUTION: The two guide pins in the flywheel must align with the corresponding holes in the clutch pressure plate, or the pressure plate will be damaged during installation. Do not mistake balancing holes for guide pin holes.
Center the clutch disc using special tool VW 547.
Tighten down the flywheel attachment bolts evenly until the clutch disc is firmly held in place.
Remove centering tool and install locking tool VW 558 to the flywheel and tighten the flywheel bolts diagonally to 20 Nm (15 ft lbs)
NOTE
New replacement flywheels for gasoline engines have no timing mark. They are marked only with a 0°TDC mark. Before installing, make a timing mark on the new flywheel
Reinstall the transaxle.
Q: whats the diffrence between the vw golf(rabbit) 2.0 gti and vw golf(rabbit)gli?
A: GLI is the sport name for the Jetta, not the rabbit. GTI is the sport name for the rabbit. The rabbit and Jetta are practically the same cars with the same engines, but the rabbit is a hatchback and the jetta is a sedan.
